About this artwork

Solliden Palace, just south of Borgholm on Öland's west coast, is the Swedish Royal Family's summer residence — a white Italianate villa in a great park, not a castle ruin. It was built for the then Crown Princess Victoria and completed in 1906, designed by architect Torben Grut with inspiration from Axel Munthe's Villa San Michele on Capri; the Crown Princess, in poor health, found relief in Öland's dry climate. King Gustaf V opened the palace park to the public, and the present King, Carl XVI Gustaf, owns Solliden today. Visitors walk its Italian garden, rose garden and English park while the palace itself remains the family's private summer home.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
