About this artwork

Sandvik is an old fishing community on Öland's west coast, long the centre of the island's stone industry, and its skyline is dominated by Sandviks Kvarn. The eight-storey smock mill, 26 metres tall with a sail span of 24 metres, is the largest windmill in Northern Europe. It was first built near Vimmerby in Småland in 1856, then dismantled and rebuilt at Sandvik in 1885 on a specially built two-storey base. The mill worked until the 1950s and is now preserved as a museum above the village's guest harbour.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
