Byxelkrok is a picturesque fishing village at the northern end of Öland, where County Road 136 ends its long run up the island. Its small harbour is the village's heart, busy in summer with fishing boats, visiting yachts, restaurants and campsites nearby. In summer a ferry crosses to Oskarshamn on the mainland, and boats run out to the island of Blå Jungfrun in the Kalmar Strait. The name comes from Byskogskroken, the bend in the coast south toward the cape of Tokenäs, where there was once a Viking harbour.
