About this artwork

Grynge is one of Gotland's best-preserved fishing villages, standing on the west side of the Gryngudd headland in Gammelgarn parish on the island's east coast. Around twenty stone fishing huts from the 1700s and 1800s stand gathered in groups on the shore, built mainly for roofs of thin limestone slabs, though none keep that covering today. Before and behind the huts lie the gistgard, the open grounds where fishing nets were hung to dry, and the remains of two stone beacon towers, once lit with open fires to guide boats in, survive nearby. No fishing is carried on here any longer; the huts now serve as holiday cottages, with the Danbo nature reserve just to the south.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
