About this artwork
Strängnäs Harbour fronts the old town on Västerviken, a bay of Lake Mälaren, in one of Sweden's oldest towns. Above the harbour and the red-roofed old town rises Strängnäs Cathedral, a Brick Gothic church begun around 1260 and inaugurated in 1291, its tower carrying a Baroque hood of 1723. On the neighbouring hill of Kvarnkullen stands the town's Dutch-style windmill, built in 1855 where mills have stood since 1630. It was at Strängnäs that Gustav Vasa was elected king of Sweden on 6 June 1523, the date now kept as Sweden's National Day.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
