Gamla Stan, the old town of Falkenberg, lies by the river Ätran just west of the stone Tullbron bridge. Its cobbled streets keep their low, crooked wooden houses, most of them from the 19th century, after the town centre moved north in the mid-1700s. At its heart stands S:t Laurentii church, Falkenberg's oldest building, whose oldest parts date from the 1300s, with a tower added in the 1700s. Around the church lies Laurentiiparken, with the old Gåsatorget market ground and a rosarium of some eighty rose varieties.
