About this artwork

The Asschierska house is Karlshamn's most characterful old building, raised in 1682 as the town hall of the young port, only eighteen years after Karlshamn was founded. It is built in half-timbered technique, its dark beams framing pale panels, a construction quite unlike the plain timber houses around it. Under its steep roof it held the town's offices, its jail and its cellar, and a small tower with the fire bell once crowned the roof. Since 1814 it has been a private house, taking its name from the Asschier family, and it is protected today as a listed building.

Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
